The Founders

Foliage was founded by Tim Bowe, Steve Morlock, and Ron Rubbico in 1991. All three are still active in the company. Their continuing personal relationships with Foliage clients - spanning 17 years and more than 200 clients - are borne of trust, value, and partnership, with an enduring commitment to our clients' success.

The Leadership Team

Like the founders, virtually every member of Foliage's management team spends most of his or her time working with clients. This first priority of our leadership enables us to respond quickly to our clients' needs with account and project teams that have strategic understanding, deep technical expertise, and real-life industry experience.

Timothy Bowe
CEO, Co-Founder

Tim Bowe

Tim Bowe steers the development and evolution of Foliage consulting services, and works directly with clients, helping them derive more business value from their product lines. Tim also speaks and writes extensively on leveraging product line synergies to create market opportunity, and on increasing R&D efficiency through focused alignment of technology and business strategies. Prior to Foliage, Tim held senior management and technical roles at Technology Integration, Inc., Eaton Semiconductor, Advanced NMR, Ion Beam Systems and Control Data. He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Merrimack College, and did graduate work in physics and computer science at the University of New Hampshire.

Ron Rubbico
CEO, Co-Founder

Ron Rubbico

Ron Rubbico directs corporate business strategy and long-term planning at Foliage, and works with clients, helping them capture market share and maximize profitability from their products. Through the years, Ron has focused on evolving the corporate structure, and has introduced and refined processes that continue to strengthen and support Foliage in the role of trusted partner. Prior to co-founding Foliage, Ron held senior engineering and management positions with Computervision, Eaton Semiconductor, and Technology Integration, Inc. Ron holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College, and a bachelor of arts in chemistry from Skidmore College.

Gail Greenwald
Executive Vice President

Gail Greenwald

Gail Greenwald is responsible for P&L management and is actively involved in several client accounts. Gail has more than 20 years' experience in professional services and technology-intensive organizations. Prior to joining Foliage, she was chief operating officer of Caveo Technology. Earlier in her career, Gail was vice president and senior managing director of the technology and product development business of Arthur D. Little. At Arthur D. Little, she also spent many years managing long-term client relationships with large multinational clients in the areas of technology and business strategy and R&D planning. Gail holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from M.I.T. and a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.

John Carey
Vice President, New Business Development

John Carey

John Carey is responsible for leadership of Foliage's new business development group and also provides corporate guidance to the medical and health information systems practice. John joined Foliage in 1996 as the first sales executive With over 15 years experience in the medical industry, John has been integral in the growth of the company as well as in the implementation of business processes to support this growth. Before joining Foliage, John held direct sales and sales management positions with several companies that offer hospital and clinical information software to the health care industry, including Cerner Corporation, MEDITECH, and Versyss. John holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Northeastern University and he served four years in the U.S. Navy.

Louisa Gray
Vice President, Operations

Louisa Gray

Louisa Gray is responsible for the corporate management of Foliage's sales and marketing support, human resources, and IT support functions. With more than 20 years experience in various Operational Management positions, Louisa has developed a core skill base in defining and executing operational initiatives to effectively grow business and ensure operating efficiency. Previous to Foliage, Louisa was Operations Officer at Wells Fargo where she directed business operations for Corporate Headquarters and 11 regional offices. In earlier positions, she directed daily operations for several organizations where her responsibilities included management of corporate finances, in-depth market research and analysis, and the creation and delivery of sales and marketing initiatives. Louisa holds a bachelor of arts from Regis College and did MBA graduate work at Pepperdine University.

Tom Mariano
Vice President, Industrial Equipment Practice

Tom Mariano

Tom Mariano is responsible for leadership of Foliage's Industrial Equipment accounts, which serves the semiconductor equipment, test and measurement, and related industries. Tom has over 20 years' experience in software development, management and marketing, including over ten years with semiconductor factory automation companies PRI Automation and Brooks Automation, where he held positions of VP Marketing, VP Factory Software, VP Software Development, Director Software Development and Principal Software Engineer. Earlier, Tom held software engineering and engineering management positions with Proconics (later part of Asyst Technologies), UPS Research and Development, and Northern Research and Engineering Corporation. Tom received a Master of Science in Robotics and Control Systems from MIT in 1987 and a bachelor of science in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science from Northeastern University in 1985.

John Montrone
Vice President, Medical Products Practice

John Montrone

John Montrone co-manages Foliage's Medical Products Practice. Since joining Foliage in 2004, John has provided oversight for and directly managed many large scale software development projects. With over 20 years experience in software development including 15 years in the medical industry, John works very closely with our clients to ensure that the program direction aligns with the business drivers. Prior to joining Foliage, John was Unit Manager for the Critical Care Monitoring product line at Draeger Medical as well as Siemens Medical Systems. John has extensive experience in software development for regulated products in both the medical and defense industries. At EDO Corporation; he was responsible for developing passive sonar and communication systems for the US Navy. John holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University.

Garrett Thurston
Director, Aerospace, Defense & Security Practice

Garrett Thurston

Garrett is the Director of the Aerospace, Defense & Security practice at Foliage. He works with our clients at the executive, and product and engineering management levels helping them to derive more value from their product lines. Garrett is often directly involved as an advisor in the security, process, and model based development aspects of the various AD&S efforts, and also plays an active role in Foliage's delivery assurance and ITAR and EAR Security compliance. Garrett leverages twenty-two years of government and product program management, client management, and product realization experience. At Textron, he managed multiple government defense programs for USAF, NASA, ONR, and DARPA. In previous positions with Integrated Systems, Windriver, and Hamilton Sundstrand, Garrett worked with most of the leading aerospace companies in various product and software development initiatives. Garrett has a BS in Chemistry, an MS in Engineering and a Ph.D. in modeling and simulation and classical and modern control systems development. During his doctorate, he also took a business core and graduated with a minor in business. Garrett holds 4 patents and has held a US security clearance.

Tim Bosch
Vice President, Architecture & Consulting

Tim Bosch

Tim has been with the company since 1999. He directs consulting and development efforts for a variety of projects, with a focus on medical device and medical information system products. Tim has written a number of white papers on software architecture and development, and has been published in several industry magazines, including Medical Design Technology, Medical Device and Diagnostic Industry, and Medical Product Outsourcing. Tim brings nearly 30 years of software experience to Foliage. Prior to joining the company, he held technical and management positions at the Codman Research Group, Thomson Financial Services, Imagitex, and Atex. Bosch holds a bachelor.s degree from Carnegie-Mellon University, and has completed graduate coursework in computer science and business at Harvard University's Extension Division.

Chris Bowe
Vice President, Quality Assurance & Test Engineering

Chris Bowe

Chris Bowe manages Foliage's Quality group. The Quality group provides a center of excellence in verification, automated testing and quality assurance, ensuring project success through effective application of verification strategy, tools and process compliance. In addition to his quality role, Chris is responsible for ensuring compliance to Dept. of State (ITAR) and Dept. of Commerce (EAR) export controls regulations. Chris has over 20 years of experience in a variety of roles doing product development in the medical, aerospace and semi-conductor industries, with an in-depth knowledge of FAA (DO-178b) and FDA guidance. Prior to joining Foliage in 1992 Chris was an applications development engineer, and manufacturing engineer for Bitstream, Inc. Chris attended Merrimack College with a political science major.

Dave Harrington
Vice President, Engineering

Dave Harrington

Dave Harrington manages Foliage's software development group with the goal of providing optimal support to the account teams. The Development Group provides much of the top-quality engineering talent for Foliage's mission-critical and time-critical engagements. Dave has 20+ years experience in a variety of roles within software development including managing development teams, software delivery, software quality assurance, and software services. Prior to joining Foliage in 1999, Dave built and managed software engineering and quality assurance teams in the CAD/CAM industry at Computervision, in the financial industry at Fidelity Investments, in government-funded research at the Mitre Corp, and in non-linear digital editing at Media 100. Dave holds a bachelor of arts from the University of Massachusetts, and a MS degree from Boston University.

Rich Sanford
Vice President, Engineering

Rich Sanford

Rich Sanford manages Foliage's Project Leadership group. The Project Leadership Group provides a center of excellence in project management, ensuring project success through effective scope management, risk mitigation and process adherence. Rich has 12+ years of experience in a variety of software development roles. Prior to joining Foliage in 2005, Rich built and managed software teams and worked to institute project management best practices at Teradyne's Semiconductor Test Division. Rich also co-founded Volunteer Solutions which launched the successful www.volunteersolutions.org web site in 1999. Rich holds a bachelor of science from MIT, an MBA from Boston University, and PMP certification from the Project Management Institute.
